Submission Guidelines
How to query me:
To submit your work to me, send an email to query@psliterary.com with your query letter and sample material (pasted into the body of the email). Please do not include attachments. Otherwise, your email will be marked as spam!
Make sure to address your query to me. Your subject line should look like this:
“ATTN: NOUR SALLAM : PROJECT TITLE / GENRE/ AUTHOR NAME. ”
** Please note that I do not consider queries submitted to me through this website or any social media channels.**
Query letter requirements:
Please make sure you include the following in your query letter: title, genre, word count, a brief and compelling overview of your project, 2-3 comparative titles, and your bio.
If you have any publishing experience or your manuscript is currently under consideration by other agents, please mention that in your letter!
Sample pages :
Regardless of genre, sample pages help agents get a sense of your work.
For fiction projects, please paste the first 10 pages of your manuscript in the body of your email.
For nonfiction projects, a brief outline of your project is required. If available, please also include 10 pages of a sample chapter or other writing.
A note on response times:
I do my best to respond to queries within 4-6 weeks of receiving them. As a general rule, if you do not hear back from the PSLA team with a request for further material within 6 weeks, then it's a pass from the agency.
FAQs
-
Yes, you can. Ideally, you want to send a sample from the project you’re proposing, but if you have a writing sample that illustrates your writing on the topic you’re proposing (eg: an article you’ve written) then that works! This is especially applicable to journalistic work.
-
Let me know! Please share the deadline you expect to respond to the other agent(s) by and I will aim to respond to you by that deadline as well.
-
No. The 6-week standard response time only applies to queries. It can take me much longer to get back to you on your full manuscript or proposal. If I requested your proposal or manuscript and you have not heard back from me within 4 months, feel free to send me a nudge.
-
Unfortunately, I do not. At PSLA, we only send rejections if we have requested your full manuscript or proposal. For queries, If you do not hear back within the 6-week timeframe, you can assume it’s a pass.
-
I do! If you have previously self-published, please make sure to include your publishing history in your query letter.
-
That depends! If you have made significant changes to your project (major edits that altered the work as a whole), I’m happy to reconsider it.
If you have a completely new project that you think I would be a fit for, I’d love to see your new submission.
